Happy days are here again.........

I read a few weeks ago(right here on 1up)that Zipper is working on a new Socom game for PS2 and a new Socom game for PSP.Well I just through watching several in game videos for the new PS2 version and it looks really good.

This go-round is boasting 4-player online co-op.The campaign mode is no longer made up of "levels",instead Zipper has opted to go the way of games like GTA:San Andreas and Shadow of the Colossus giving the player one gimongus world to play through.Personally I think that this will help the single player campaign achieve the level of immersion that it hasn't been able to capture in past iterations.

A little detail that had me worried with the announcement of a new game was if it would be compatible with the current games online structure.Well after watching the video interview that IGN has with Shawn Torin Rettig, ass.producer @ SCEA, I am happy to say that the entire Socom3 online mutiplayer mode will be on the disc and is compatible with regular Socom3 game discs and players. But the added bonus that you get is a slew of new multipyer maps and hopefully some new weapons. So this new game is actually more like an expansion pack that a new game, which is fine by me.
